Marion Foster

A former member of the SLOC Board of Directors, Marion lent her innumerable talents to more than 50 SLOC shows.  Backstage, Marion was a gifted lighting designer illuminating numerous productions from the 1960s right through the 1990s.  She produced SOUTH PACIFIC (67), assistant directed THE SOUND OF MUSIC (68). Onstage, Marion was a remarkable actress mastering myriad comic and dramatic roles. Active with many area theater groups, for SLOC Marion appeared in MY FAIR LADY (66), ANNIE GET YOUR GUN (72), CAN-CAN and MAME (71, as Sally Cato).  Marion claimed that her last SLOC show, LIES AND LEGENDS was one of her favorite theatrical experiences. Directed by her husband Allan, Marion designed the lights (with longtime collaborator Bob Willard) and travelled with the show as its resident lighting designer (and cheerleader!) as it toured to drama competitions throughout NYS, the East Coast and its eventual production as part of an international theater festival in San Feliu De Giuixols, Spain in 1991.
