Dorothea directed and/or produced many shows during the 1950’s. She was involved with are Iolanthe, School for Wives, Brigadoon, Sweethearts, Carousel, Merry Widow, The Telephone, Yeoman of the Gurard, Die Fledermaus and possibly Show Boat and Finian’s Rainbow.
I fondly remember her plotting out the staging on our dining room table, bagpipers practicing in our living room for Brigadoon and Scottish Dancers coming over to practice too. I remember my Dad making fairy wands for Iolanthe and making one for me too. I’d have been 5-6 years old, but I kept that wand for the rest of my childhood even though the glitter wore off by the time I graduated from high school. – Joanne Irwin
