Reading Music Workshop with Leslie Eliashuk

The SLOC Education Committee is excited to host a “Reading Music Workshop” with Leslie Eliashuk on Saturday, April 26th from 10am-12pm in the Education Building at SLOC. Leslie Eliashuk received her B.S and M.S in Music Education from the College of Saint Rose. She currently teaches vocal music at Averill Park Senior High School. Leslie is active in the Capital District theatrical community, having directed, musically directed and choreographed shows with local schools and theaters, with her most recent project being Falsettos at SLOC! As an actor, her favorite past credits include: Sour Kangaroo in Seussical, Mrs. Peacock in Clue, Rosie in Mamma Mia, Pennywise in Urinetown, Elizabeth Proctor in The Crucible, Carrie in Carousel, and Annie Oakley in Annie Get Your Gun.

This workshop is designed to help performers of all ages learn the basics of reading sheet music in the musical theater genre.  Through this workshop, we hope you feel more confident with your future auditions, performing callback music and learning and understanding how to follow a written vocal score.  We will perform vocal exercises that explore your vocal range, learn how to read rhythms and simple melodies, and decode vocal lines in musical theater songs.

This workshop is intended for students and adults ages 13+!
