John Field Wood

Dec. 10, 1931–May 3, 2025

A native of Schenectady, John moved to NY City and for 29 years he was a cameraman at ABC, mostly on the Soap Operas, He was a cameraman for ABC’s “Dark Shadows” a hit cult classic soap opera, John was also cameraman on, “One Life to Live”, “All My Children”, John and ABC’s “Wide World of Sports”. Being a cameraman was his passion.

John won an Emmy Award. For his work on the 1984 Summer Olympics. The award: Outstanding Individual Achievement.  He was a cameraman for ABC’s hit cult classic soap opera “Dark Shadows”, as well as “All My Children”, “One Life to Live”, and ABC’s “Wide World of Sports”. John in his earlier years, dreamed of being an actor. But the tech world called him instead, but he did appear in many Off-Broadway shows. While in NY City, he loved cabaret shows.

 After retiring from ABC, John moved back to his hometown–Schenectady. He appeared in many community productions, a commercial, and at the Park Playhouse in the production of, Music Man.
